Hi Mike,
I remember at least one disc-cutter being in the Studio B control room (near the door) in the Fall of 1962 because I actually cut some discs with it. Engineer/Announcer Chuck Jones and I did two Christmas specials that year and I still have the disc with one show per side. As I recall (and the disc quality will attest) it was a very cranky machine and we had to go through many tests to get the right volume, EQ, cutting pressure, etc., before we could produce anything that was even marginally acceptable. Of course "marginal" is a relative term when you consider that "state-of-the-art" recording for us was either the Revere half-tracks with their flashing-light VUs or the infamous Magna-Chews in Studio B control. We tried a few more transfers to disc just for the fun of it, but never actually aired any of them. Can't remember exactly when it was taken out, but obviously between 12/62 and the time you got there. Sorry I'll miss you at the reunion. Best, Bill
