Hey, you guys. Wait to you hear this.

I have been looking through some of the old issues of ON AUDITION, "the Official WRTI Newspaper." This was published once a week in the fifties.

Not only did they have a banquet like we did in the sixties, but they had an annual picnic, too. It was at Bluebell Hill in 1956. Not only did they have a picnic but a WRTI Staff vs. Communications Faculty softball game. In 1956, the game featured a "rookie" from Florida, Delwin Dusenbury. Our own Warren "Scoop" Weiner played 2b. Under ratings it said, "Good half of a double play combination. Never erred...good base runner, crouch type hitter and draws many walks."

His counterpart on the Faculty All-$tars was John "Slats" Roberts with a batting average of .398. Scouting report said, "Has trouble fielding hard in-field rollers. Hits to left of center and if he hits a homer, you'll hear it all year."

There's also a right-fielder by the name of "Dusty" Dusenbury. Scouts say, "Up from Florida. He's expected to wait for direct cue befor hitting. ...Line drive type."

At shortstop was "Swish Seibel." The lowdown was, "Has trouble running deep to his left and right. ...single and double hitter. ...sucker for curveball..."

The catcher was a dude by the name of "Fireball" Klein. The word to the wise was, "This cameraman is a converted pitcher... May pitch the second game. A slap hitter. When pitching has trouble finding the strike zone when you crouch."

I know by the time I graduated in 1969, we could have been these guys. Maybe.
