Tom Cardella

What We Know

The following is written by Gerry Wilkinson...Thomas P. Cardella is a nice guy, or, at least, he seems to be on the telephone. Tom is married and still lives in South Philly and currently works for the government. When I talked to Tom on the phone on Friday afternoon, April 17, 1998, he said that he knew about this site. Merrill Reese, the voice of the Philadelphia Eagles and earlier in his broadcast career, the voice of the Temple Owls, told Tom about us. Merrill was a freshman during Tom's senior year. I believe Tom said that he was Sports Director for awhile at WRTI. He was graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree as a Radio and Television major from Temple's School of Business. (TU didn't have a School of Communications and Theater until 1967). Chuck Sherman, another WRTI alum, got Tom a job at WHAT-FM (now WWDB-FM) spinning jazz cuts. Just from a brief conversation, I could tell Tom still has a good set of pipes. (I'm talking about his vocal chords). Tom said that he would look for any old pictures. He said that he thought that he used to have a photo of him with Merrill Reese. If he still has it, he'll send us a copy.
