Mickey Saperstone
His Story
Photo from the 1967 edition of the Templar, the Temple University Yearbook, who gave their kind permission to republish the picture.
An e-mail message from Mickey Saperstone to Gerry Wilkinson....
Jane told me you had been in contact with her and I asked her to pass on my email address to you. I was elated to hear that the old 'rti gang still has a bit of adhesiveness left, which makes a great nucleus for some type of informal alumni association. The photos on the web site are outrageous. My son and I laughed for hours. He couldn't get over the pictures of Tom Snyder. Actually he didn't believe that Tom was once the local anchor in Phila. I noted two distinguishable photos of me from my party, which I clearly remember. The ironic part is that one-hour before I found your letter and clicked onto the site, I had been at a Temple basketball game at the new Apollo Center. While there I had even walked by the very apartment on Broad Street where I lived and had that party. I don't keep in touch with anyone from school, let alone 'rti, except Jane Lessner. We've stayed friends over the years. When I was working at Conrail, my office and Jane's were across the street from each other, so we had lunch on occasion, and since we kept similar hours, we frequently ran into each other going and coming. Today I live in Cherry Hill, with my wife of 26 years (a Temple grad but no one you would have known). How and where were you able to get all those old pictures? There're incredible. Have you though of asking those you who have located to send in current pictures so they too can be place on the web so we can see how old and fat everyone else have become. Thanks again for an enjoyable site. Keep it up and keep me informed of any interesting happening.

Please DO post my email address. I look forward to corrsponding with former 'rti-ers. Yes I do live in Cherry Hill. Professionally, I am a CPA and do financial consulting. You mentioned Jerry Klien is in Cherry Hill. Any idea about where he's located and what kind of work does he do? I look forward to visiting the site frequently.
Happy holidays.
Mickey
An e-mail message from Mickey Saperstone to Gerry Wilkinson....Will keep in touch. This is my busy sesason and with all the changes in the tax code, I'll be well occupied for a few months. However, I will send you info on what I'm up to from time to time. Thanks again for a keeping up the web site.
(Added 1/23/98) From Howie Shapiro (via telephone)....Howie related a story to Jerry Klein that about two years ago, he stopped at a restaurant on the turnpike and saw a familiar face. He went over and asked, "Are you Mickey Saperstone?," and sure enough it was!
(Added 1/24/98) From Mickey Saperstone....Howie does have a great memory - but the incident was 4 years ago. I remember because my son was about to graduate HS and was applying to schools with RTF programs which was the discussion of the moment. Howie was at the next table and must have picked up parts of the conversation. When he got a good look at us, he recognized me. Here we are four years later and my son is about to graduate from Syracuse's Newhouse school of communication. So if anyone can offer him advise on how to get started in the TV production business, please drop a line.
(Added 4/26/98) From Gerry Wilkinson....Mickey's oldest son is named Randy. He will be graduated from Syracuse University's Newhouse School of Communications (TRF major) in May 1998. Mickey's youngest son is named Matt. This is the WRTI Old Gang Web Site!
