His Story

My wife is Michele and we have been married for 22 years. I have received several e-mails for you people saying, "You want us to send in photos, well, where's pictures of your family?" Well, here they are. I have been asking Michele to select a photo for a little while now and she hasn't done it. So until she does, here's her employment photo ID. (She doesn't know I sneaked in her wallet and scanned it.....so don't tell her). This picture dates from about 1990.

Michele started graduate school on August 31, 1998. She's working on her MSW at Bryn Mawr College. She is a full-time student and continues to work for the Department of Human Services full-time.

The second photo is from August of 1994. The picture was taken at the MGM Studios' Theme Park in Florida. Our two girls are in front of the taxicab with Zara is on the left and Maya on the right.

Zara is now 13 years old and a 8th grade honor student at the Robert E. Lamberton School (Philadelphia's only K to 12 public school). Maya is 20 and currently in her third year at Temple University. Double majoring in RELIGION and CRIMINAL JUSTICE, she has been on the Dean's List each semester and wants to be a Profiler for the FBI.

This photo is of me (Gerry Wilkinson) taken in 1973 in the WDAS Production Studio.

In an e-mail from Mike Biel........What PLANET is that shirt from?

The Wilkinson Family Story

Michele was born in New England but grew up in Carlsbad, New Mexico. At 18, she left the southwest to attend the University of Pennsyvlvania. She has a BA and is a Social Worker for the City of Philadelphia. She is part Native American. I guess that's why the kids always acted like a bunch of wild indians.

After graduating from Temple, I went to work for WXUR & WXUR-FM in Media, Pennsylvania. I left the station in March of 1970 as Program Director to go to WDAS & WDAS-FM in Philadelphia. There, I worked my way up to Operations Manager & Director of Engineering. (I had gotten my First Class License in 1970). In 1973, I had a brief fling into politics as a political candidate. Although unsuccessful against the incumbent, I did come in second in a three-way race. I also ended up with a Main Line newspaper endorsement. Here's more details.

I like to travel. This love has taken me to Rome, Venice, Greece, Crete, Romania, Canada, Mexico, Guatemala and Honduras. Michele and I honeymooned for 17 days in Egypt. We both (the kids too) have a very special interest in archaeology. Michele and I are also science fiction freaks, especially enjoying the television series of Babylon 5, Earth: Final Conflict and the four different Star Treks.

A FUNNY STORY....When my youngest (who is now 13) was in nursery school, they had to explain to the rest of the class what they and their family were doing for Thanksgiving. My daughter said that her grandmother was going to Turkey for Thanksgiving. The teacher said, "No, you're going to your grandmother's house on Thanksgiving for Turkey." Again my daughter said, "My grandmother is going to Turkey for Thanksgiving." This went back and forth for awhile and when I came to pick her up, the teacher told me about Zara's confusion. I said that she was right. My mother who likes to travel, but is thrifty, booked a trip to Istanbul (it was a last minute fill in the empty seat but cheap trip). Indeed Zara's grandmother was going to Turkey for Thanksgiving.
