Al Maslin
A Main-stay at Channel 6
The following is an e-mail from Al Maslin to Gerry Wilkinson....At the moment I'm on vacation in Florida and using a laptop. What a great idea for the WRTI Old Gang web page. My laptop screen isn't as good as my computer's at home so the pictures don't look quite right. Can't wait until I get home in another week so I can really check the site out. Sure does bring back lots of fond memories, though.
I have some info on a few of the 'old gang':
Marlene Patrick and I were married in 1967 and were divorced about 11 years later. She remarried several years later and is now divorced again. She is now living in Cheltenham and is using her maiden name.
Mary Ellen Redmile and Dick Cooper have been married for quite some time. They are now living out in the middle of Pennsylvania. Not sure if they have e-mail or not, but will try to find out.
Dick Swayze, who was one of the professional staff engineers in the early '60's has been with WCAU-TV for many years. He is married and lives in Paoli.
Mike Exmore, another of the professional staff engineers in the early '60's now lives in Boca Raton, Florida.
As for me, I am still with WPVI-TV (Channel 6) where I have been working for over 30 years now. I am married and live in Havertown. My e-mail address is: amaslin@earthlink.net and it is certainly ok with me for you to publish it. I'd love to hear from some of the 'old gang.'
If you want more of my history, I'll be glad to send it to you. Many thanks for making it a point of finding me. It sure made my day.
All the best,
Al Maslin
The following is an e-mail from Al Maslin to Gerry Wilkinson....Great on Merrill Reese. Glad he remembers me. I haven't seen him in years, but I do remember him well. (Gerry Wilkinson's comment: I talked to Merrill on 2/12/98 and he mentioned different people he remembered and especially talked about Al. Reese said he would join us on the site soon.) Still haven't had a chance to tear the place apart to look for memorabilia, but I promise to do that soon.
Has anyone asked Mrs. Dusenbury if there are any old tapes around that might be of interest to us? We did quite a few radio drama productions in my days at WRTI and it sure would be fun to hear them again.
If I think of it, I'll ask John Roberts about tapes, too. I see him often. Matter of fact, I just spoke to him a couple of days ago but I forgot to ask about tapes.
Take care,
Al
Here's an e-mail from Marlene Patrick: "Here is some news (saw Kenn's headline about becoming a grandfather) -- Alan (Maslin) and I will be grandparents for the first time at the end of July -- our daughter Debbie and son-in-law Matt shared the good news on Thanksgiving weekend."
An e-mail from Marlene Patrick, dated August 1, 1999 states:
She arrived on her due date -- must be that Communications background -- and is healthy and beautiful.
Just a quick note to let you know that Al and I became grandparents on Monday, July 26. Larissa Rose Conard was born at 11:49 a.m. weighing 7 lb. 12 oz; 20 1/2" long, dark eyes and auburn hair.
