The WRTI Old Gang

Visits WPPX-TV, Channel 61

On Friday, October 2, 1998, the WRTI Old Gang visited WPPX-TV, Channel 61 in their Philadelphia studios. The station is located at Delaware Avenue and Spring Garden. They're located on the 8th floor of the building in really nice, modern facilties. Bob Backman from the WRTI Old Gang is General Manager for Channel 61. Here's 25 photos from that day's events.

Channel 61 on August 31, started carrying programming from PAX NET. The over-the-air network carries off-network programming for the family. Bud Paxson who owns the majority of the company's stock had owned a radio station in Florida. An appliance store owner couldn't pay his bill, but gave him 100 electric can openers. The station sold the product over the air. That was the beginning of the Home Shopping Network which Paxson sold in 1991.
