Unknown date but a good guess would be November or December of 1964
There was no byline but this Temple University News story was written by Kenn Venit
Photo and story from the collection of Kenn Venit.
In an e-mail from Kenn Venit to Gerry Wilkinson, Kenn Says...I think I wrote the Joan Honig story sometime around 1965-66. Joan was from South Orange, NJ, looked very "classy" in her fur coat, and smuggled me into a dinner at the Convention Center, where Vice President Hubert Humphrey was the speaker. Joan showed her credentials, pointed to me with the audio recorder, pickup box, and microphone, and said to the Secret Service agent, "He's with me." I was shocked that they let me in, but Joan did look like a network correspondent, and sounded very authoritative. I believe she married an anchor from a New York City station.
Gerry Wilkinson thinks this article must date from late 1964 since it has heavy references to the 1964 election. Anything after a short period of time after the election would be stale news and Kenn would never write stale news.
