Nelson Katz
His Story
The following is an e-mail from Nelson Katz to Jerry Klein (4/18/00)...I will be very brief. Don't know if you'll remember me or not. I was part of the WRTI-AM gang circa 1968-1969. The name is Nelson Katz, alias Scott Nelson. I worked a bunch of stations including (you'll remember me from here) WWBZ, Vineland, N.J. (with Bruce Smallwood), WEEZ (yes, with Mike Bove), WAMS, Wilmington, Del., WAAT, Trenton, N.J., WHEX, Columbia, Pa., WNOW, York, Pa., WWOD, Lynchburg, Va., WWOC, Portsmouth, Va., WEET, Richmond, Va., WRGM, Richmond, Va., WOBM, Toms River, N.J., WAEB, Allentown, Pa. Whew! And believe it or not, I left 3 or 4 out!!! That was all before I grew up and got a real job. I'm currently a senior programmer for a well-established software firm in Columbus, Ohio. I said all that to say, that I happened to catch a photo of Bruce Smallwood amongst your memorabilia. You wouldn't happen to know what happened to Bruce, would you? Sure would like to know. I also worked with Bob Zuckerman, Bruce Selinsky and Gary Torresani. If you know where any of these people are, I'd sure like to know. Please feel free to email me or give me a call at: 800-468-0834 Ext. 516. Take Care.

The following is an e-mail from Jerry Klein to Nelson Katz (4/18/00)...Nelson - I do remember your name(s), although I must admit I probably wouldn't recognize you on the street. But it's good to hear from you.
Would you like us to post your email address on the website? Any other info about you?
Best regards,
Jerry Klein
The following is an e-mail from Nelson Katz to Jerry Klein (4/19/00)...Forgive me for mispelling BEN SELISKER'S name. I also read about him in your obits. So sorry to hear that. I did however get to read about Gary Torresani. That was good. I also worked with Joe Regelski and I was able to read about him on your website. I'll work up some official info on my whereabouts. In the meantime, if you want to use the info I sent you, that would be fine. Like Gary, I too had a spiritual awakening and now serve The Lord Jesus Christ through church activities, prayer and reading His Word. I'd like to get that message across too. Life is short my friend, and we need an anchor. I found mine. I pray that you and your readers will find Him also. Please use my home email address for contact: nelson0535@earthlink.net. You wouldn't happen to know the whereabouts of Mike Bove, would you? Thanks for all the info Jerry. Let me leave you with this one amusing story.
It was late one night. I was working at WEEZ on the 7 - 12 Midnight Shift. At the time, WRCP was just an upstart. It was late. I was young and hungry. So, I stuck on a L-O-N-G Marty Robbins record, Mr. Shorty,, locked up the station, and meandered down the streets of Chester to my local Dunkin Donut. Just so happened, they had our station on. I could tell, because I heard Mr. Shorty playing in the background. I slowly chose which type donuts I wanted. Let's see. Two chocolate covered, two jelly, no, wait, make that three chocolate covered, three jelly, um, wait a minute. How about two chocolate covered, two plain and two jelly. Yeah, I think that'll do. No use rushing. Heck, the record's only half over. Well, when I got back to the station, much to my dismay, the record had ended several minutes ago, and there was that annoying scratching sound coming over the airwaves all that time. It seems that the local Dunkin Donut Shop had abandoned listening to WEEZ earlier that evening, and was now tuned in to WRCP! You guessed it. They just happened to be playing Mr. Shorty when I walked in; it's just that they started their version a few minutes later. Oh well.
