Rich Kirkpatrick
(a.k.a. Pat Kirk)
His Story
On Thursday, February 11, 1999, Gerry Wilkinson received a call at his WHYY office. On the other end was Rich Kirkpatrick, otherwise known as Pat Kirk from his old WCAU days. It seems 30 years ago, someone at the old 1210 AM told Rich that his name took too long to say and it was shortened to Pat Kirk.
Rich was found while Gerry was doing a search on the Internet looking for information on a WHYY-TV pledge show, "The Story of Golf." For any of you who have done searches, these devices can bring up some pretty weird choices. Well, whatever it brought up, it was a PENN DOT (Pennsylvania's Department of Transportation) press release written by Rich Kirkpatrick.
He's the Press Secretary for PENN DOT. Previously, he was bureau chief for the Associated Press in Harrisburg for 25 years.
