Mistress of "Pitiful Place"

The following is written by Gerry Wilkinson....At 9:30 on Tuesday evening, January 6, 1998, I called Stephanie Winge of "Some Call It Madness" fame. Much to my surprise, she answered the phone. Steph is getting ready to join us on the Internet, but is not quite there yet. She has a "Mac" and just purchased a modem. However, it arrived with software for a PC instead of Mac. The arrival of the new software is expected by the end of the week. Next week when her friend who is her "tech support staff" returns (where he or she went, we do not know), they will get Ms. Winge up on the Internet and she will be joining us at this site. Steph was a Theater major and was graduated from Temple in 1969. Since then, she has been self-employed. Owning a clothing place in the South Street area, Stephanie makes and sells clothing items. Exactly what, she didn't say.

Our conversation lasted about an hour. This is especially interesting since I hardly knew her and I sure she didn't remember me. As far as I know, we were never in the same class and I had little, if anything, to do with SCIM. Her only WRTI contact with SCIM. But we chatted like life-long buddies. ...Talking about old friends like Mike Biel, Ed Sciaky and Bob Donze. She couldn't wait to get on the Internet and come visit our site. I am afraid, however, that her computer (which she said is an old one) doesn't have a sound card so she will, probably, be unable to listen to the Real Audio cuts that Jerry Klein has posted. She is considering buying a new laptop. There's also a possibility that she may be leaving the Philly area to do some traveling and visiting of old friends.

Ms. Winge is, I believe, not married at present. I accept this as fact since she mentioned that when she calls her "boyfriend" on the phone, it's a toll call. Either that, or we know something her "husband" doesn't. Zheeeeeeeeeeeee. Her mom's fine and lives in Chestnut Hill and her sister is in Radnor. Steph, who is 51, (my God, are we really that old) lives at 711 South 4th Street in Philadelphia and invites anyone interested in SNAIL MAILING her to do so. Steph said that he life has been much different than most, but she wouldn't trade places with them for a second.

On Wednesday, April 8, 1998, I talked to Steph on the phone again. She said that she's given up getting on the Internet, at least for the time being. So anyone wanting to contact her will either have to write and call her. She hopes that she'll be able to get together with the old SCIM gang in the near future. She has talked to Phil and he's fine. He called her because of her phone being posted on this site.
