Did anyone see the SCIFI Channel on January 31, 1998 at 10 pm. They rebroadcast the tape of
the live performance of FIRST MEN IN THE MOON. It was a radio drama (done on TV)
complete with sound patterns as we were taught by Dr. Dusenbury at Temple. The original
broadcast was November 2, 1997. Alien Voices is company that now produces taped science
fiction classics just for audio. This broadcast starred Leonard Nimoy (Spock), John de Lancie
("Q"), Ethan Phillips (Neelix) and Dwight Schultz (Barkley). They were all from Star Trek
shows. There was a special appearance by William Shatner (Captain Kirk). I watched it with my
12 year-old daughter who was very interested in how the sound effects were done (they were all
live). Zara also thought it interesting how several of the actors did several different voices. Also
Ethan and Dwight did sound patterns in addition to their vocal duties. It was truly a learning
experience for her. So we now know......radio drama is not dead. It lives on the SCIFI Channel
and on audio tape. Tapes are available at http://www.simonsays.com/alienvoices
